PG: BikeFest kicks off 10 days of bicycling events

Our Party made the “Seen” Section of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

They partied their wheels off during the seventh annual BikeFest kickoff for 10 days of bicycling events. The Friday night gathering at the Pittsburgh Opera headquarters in the Strip District included a VIP reception catered by Salt of the Earth.

Former Andy Warhol Museum director Tom Sokolowski, Dr. Freddie Fu, Craig Dunham, Beth Hazlett and Kim O’Dell were among the early arrivals. Nearly 1,000 guests showed up, many under their own power, as the hundreds of bikes on temporary racks attested. Dutch McDonald and his wife, Becky Mingo, who is six months pregnant, rode their tandem bike from Friendship.

Each year, Chris Beech of Thick Bikes designs an interesting contraption for the entertainment of the guests. This year it was a massive spinning seesaw.
