Duquesne University adds new bike racks throughout campus

Duquesne University making efforts to encourage and support bike commuters

While many bicycle racks can already be found across Duquesne’s campus, their facilities management is making a concerted effort to evaluate the situation and add more racks in centralized areas. Placing bicycle racks in areas that are under cover, which protects bicycles in inclement weather, is also a key consideration.

“It’s gratifying to see that the Duquesne administration, and the facilities management department in particular, are so supportive of the efforts to make the University more bike-friendly,” said Dr. Greg Barnhisel, associate professor of English and bicycle advocate. “We hope that more students, staff and faculty will take advantage of the new amenities provided by the University and the city and give bike commuting a try.”

Future plans are in the works to feature a bicycle garage by the new Des Places Living Learning Center.

  • that guy says:

The bike rack in the picture has been there forever. Where are the new ones located?

  • erok says:

If you follow the link, it says “The most recent bicycle rack installations can be found at Duquesne Square by the Forbes garage and at the exit of the Locust Street garage.”

and it seems they are planning more. If you know some spots that need them, it’s probably a good time to speak up to them about it as they are thinking about it.

I just stole the pic from that link so that there was something to look at.
