Public Meetings on BRT and EcoInnovation District

The City wants your input on BRT and the Uptown EcoInnovation District

The City of Pittsburgh is hosting public meetings on key public transit improvements and community development projects in Downtown, Uptown and Oakland.

Two public meetings are set for this week. They are:

Tuesday, May 5 in Uptown/Downtown, Noon – 2:00 p.m., Duquesne University, Power Center Ballroom 1015 Forbes Avenue

Wednesday, May 6 in Oakland, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., William Pitt Student Union, 3959 Fifth Avenue

At the meetings, city officials will give an overview of coordinated planning efforts in the corridor along Fifth and Forbes and will provide a review of ongoing planning for transit improvements, including bus rapid transit (BRT), and upcoming planning for an EcoInnovation District in the Uptown neighborhood.

BRT
Participants in the meetings will be able to provide preliminary input on possible station locations in Downtown, Uptown and Oakland for proposed BRT alignments.

EcoInnovation District
The the Uptown EcoInnovation District aims to bring revitalization to the Uptown community, which is both environmentally and financially sustainable.

The intention is that BRT and the Uptown EcoInnovation District will be complementary planning projects in that activate the corridor along Fifth/Forbes Aves and capitalize on the community and economic development potential of the neighborhoods.

The meeting locations are accessible to persons with mobility disabilities, a sign language interpreter will be available and the meeting document will be available to attendees in Spanish and Braille.
