County proposes 5 miles of bike lanes on Neville Island

Neville Township occupies the entirety of Neville Island – which sits in the Ohio River just north of the City of Pittsburgh. Neville Island is home to a quaint residential area, a Robert Morris University athletic facility called the Island Sports Center and a large industrial area on its eastern side.

So what’s the haps on the isle of Neville? The county has proposed adding 5 miles of bike lanes! To learn more and see the plans for the project, attend the public meeting on the 17th of December. Read the full press release below for more information about the upcoming meeting.

PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Public Works today announced that, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 11-0 and the Federal Highway Administration, it will be conducting a public meeting for the Neville Island Bike Lanes project located in Neville Township, Allegheny County.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public to view plans for the proposed five (5) miles of shared and dedicated bike lanes to be installed along Grand and Neville Avenue and ask questions. Representatives from Allegheny County, and the design consultant, will be on hand to answer questions and discuss concerns.
