It’s time to Count Pittsburgh!

The City Planning Department is gearing up for another Spring Bike and Pedestrian Count and they need your help!

Join City Planning in the second week of May for another round of counting and fun in the sun.

The Spring and Fall Bike and Pedestrian Counts are invaluable in the data collected, which goes to shape infrastructure planning and policy for the future. By joining in CountPGH for just two hours, you can help make Pittsburgh a safer and easier place to bike and walk.

Last year, over 70 volunteers came together across the city and made the first ever CountPGH a great success. But this year City Planning is looking to get an even bigger turnout and we’re (ahem) -counting- on you to make it happen. So get ready, sign up and tell a friend!

Want to make sure your neighborhood is represented, or have a particular intersection in mind you’d like to count for? You’re in luck! We have over 36 intersections across the city that need counters, and this year’s sign-up page has a full list of intersections and sign-up slots available for all three times that are updating in real time. Just choose your intersection, the time at which you would like to count and put in your information; it’s that simple!

You can find that sign-up sheet here!

countpgh2If you are interested in joining the Count, you must be available for at least one of the following times:

– Tuesday May 10th Morning, 7am-9am

– Tuesday May 10th Evening, 4pm-6pm

– Saturday May 14th Morning, 10am-12pm

Additionally, all of those new to CountPGH must attend the pre-Count training session on:

– Monday, May 9th at 6pm (Location TBA)

This training is not required for returning Counters, but if you still want a refresher and to network with other advocates and allies for a more walkable and bikeable Pittsburgh, we encourage you to join as well.

So sign up, get your counting face on and come on out May 9th-14th!
