my name is Alessandro. My wife’s bike has been stolen between Sunday and Tuesday. We are not sure because we left from Pittsburgh on Monday morning for a short trip and we’ve just got back. We live in Penn Avenue. Unfortunately we were not prepared for this…who is…so we don’t have the serial number.
The bike was originally black with two stickers
- one black with “I <3 PGH”, on the part of the frame under the handlebar
- one blue on the rear fender “Who needs fuel perks?”.
The fenders were 1 year-old, we bought them from Pro-bike.
There was an orange milk-basket on the back, the handles were brand new.
If you think the description can match, why don’t we meet like today at 6 PM in front of “Espresso a mano”? Or somewhere else in Butler, if you prefer.
Alternatively, what would you suggest to do? Does it make sense to report a stolen bike to the police?
+1 to reporting it to the police. They need to know where in the city the problems are so that they can patrol accordingly. It might also show up in their property room some day. If you can post a picture here we’ve managed to find a few over the years too.
Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how was your bike locked up? We try to keep track of such things in an attempt to gauge the “threat level” within the region. So far we have not had any bikes stolen in Pgh. while locked with a U-lock through the frame.
