BikeFest Tree Tour with our friends at Tree Pittsburgh

BikeFest, our annual celebration of all-things-cycling, is almost here.

You know what that means: bike rides with your friends and soon-to-be friends!

All* individuals and organizations that would like to organize a bike-themed event during the dates of August 19-28th are encouraged to host or lead a ride. Festivities famously begin with the BikeFest Kick-Off Party – this year at the ACE Hotel – and culminate with our annual fundraiser bike ride, UMPC Health Plan PedalPGH.

Leading an ride can be as simple or as complicated as you would like to make it. BikeFest events can be as simple as a coffee meet up (Coffeeneuring, yes it is a thing) or a bike ride to all 90 neighborhoods. Events must be submitted by August 7th to be listed in our annual BikeFest City Paper Calendar**.

How to create a BikeFest Event.

  • Think of a place or activity that involves a bike, trike, or unicycle.
  • Create a simple plan.
    • What kind of ride would you like to do? (Road ride, fun fondo, social city tour, mountain biking, etc.)
    • Do they need costumes or any other supplies?
    • Where will they go?
  • Pick a date and time
  • Submit your event!
  • Let people know about your event to the BikePGH Message Board, Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • BikePGH will list your event in our annual BikeFest Calendar published in the Pittsburgh City Paper**.
