I think it’s rather clear from how these get batted around endlessly that NOBODY speaks for us all.

And that’s fine. Better than fine… necessary, even.

So to anyone new on these boards, please don’t worry if your opinions may not rub everyone the right way. Voice them. The only warning I’ll give because it’s come up as a pattern with a couple posters is that sarcasm doesn’t come through text so best to avoid. Say exactly what you mean. Props to @andyc for stepping out and doing that.

Ben, selective enforcement is one of the worst thing that could happen to law.

”All People Are Equal Before the Law”

Selective enforcement has its ups and downs, better laws are better, but we don’t have them. Anways, I think we’ve pretty well covered our differences of opinion on the Sean McDowell thread. Starting on page 4 our little back and forth kind of took over. There were a lot of differences, and they’re irreconcilable. And that’s fine I guess. I was deliberately brief because I didn’t really want to get sucked in. So I’m bowing out of this one now because I don’t really have anything more to say that I didn’t already say then.

But law is the same for now. And moving at speed 3-5mph — what a level of danger do you see? Especially on the intersection with no traffic.

it depends on how much time it is traveling at 3-5mph before its operator makes a decision. if your point is that coming to a 0mph stop should not be an imperative, i do agree. but that is a pretty narrow point, in this discussion.

May be it’s a narrow point but it’s very often invoked in diputes between car drivers and bicyclists. And I believe both sides are wrong. If everyone decides that (s)he take interpretation (or “small” violations) of laws in her/his hands then we are going to have a growing problem in our society. I do not object repealing of bad laws but saying that law is stupid and I am not going to follow — I can come with gozzilions explanation why I should not follow any law.
