my bike has flat handle bars and was wondering if anyone runs aero bars from a flat bar .
Also i am interested in treking bars , i need multiple hand positions for long rides and not sure which direction to go ?
Have you tried the simple addition of bar ends? The Ergons are nice and come in various sizes… they won’t help for wind, but they are good for offering another hand position.
There’s nothing wrong with aero bars on a flat bar, so long as you find that positioning comfortable. If anyone tells you that aero bars don’t belong on a flat bar, I’d look them straight in the eye and tell them “they don’t belong on a drop bar either, what’s your point?”
Personally, I’d rather have drop bars than trekking bars… but the advantage of trekking bars is the shifters you can use and additional space for mounting things on the bars.
I had some nerve issues using my flat bars for daily, year-round commuting. Both bar ends and drop bars (on a different bike) have made that problem disappear completely. Of the two, I much prefer the hand position options on drop bars. The hoods are very neutral and comfortable.
