If anyone happens to see a silver 2008 Subaru Forester, plate HW(?)-1759, please PM me. Can be identified by the Disco Biscuits sticker on the rear window.

Or rather…just call the police. Last seen on Washington’s Landing.

This sounds suspiciously familiar to a driver who yelled at some of us during the icycle bicycle.

Wish I had gotten a plate to know for sure. What was he up to this time? Stay safe out there.

byogman,

Not the same car but I appreciate the interest. My little sis, in all her bike and community garden glory, had her car stolen while at work at the Conservancy today.

Stay safe.

Wow, really? All Subarus 2005 and up have immobilizers, you need the specific key programmed to start the car, which pretty much rules out 95% of thefts. It would’ve had to been flat-bedded away.

Did you call the city and see if they have it at their pound yard (does the city have a pound?)? Maybe it was towed by accident? That scenario is more likely IMHO.

Thanks guys.

Police report filed. City doesn’t know anything about it…put a call in with the towing company to make sure it wasn’t bedded by accident (thanks cburch).

Rice rocket, I was surprised as well. I drive a ’03 Subaru and it is super hard to even unlock with anything but the original set of keys. Like I said, put a call in to the towing company.

Wish us luck!

Update…

Just saw my sister’s car while riding to get the new tag. Last seen on Devonshire and Ellsworth heading towards Fifth. Two black males driving. They definitely saw me chase and floored it off. Police are on the lookout.

Anyways, car is still in one piece. If anyone sees it, please call the police.

Car has a orange (I think) sticker in the bottom right corner of the rear window. Pens plate on the front of the car.

Thanks again guys!

Any luck with your Subaru? My friend’s 01 impreza hatchback was just stolen tonight on Ellsworth ave in the same area that you last saw your car. I googled “Pittsburgh Subaru thefts” and this thread came up. Sounds like we have an epidemic. Police are aware of these thefts and claim it’s a father and son team. Does that fit the description of the men that you saw in your sisters car?

Car is white with tinted windows and an aftermarket front end. PA plate hpd3941

Do Subarus have the same master-key problem that Hondas suffer from? I know that some thieves get a hold of a master/dealer key and can just take off with a car casually as if it was their own.

I still use “the club” on my car for this reason (although, I have a Nissan and to my knowledge this isn’t an issue with them).

Best of luck to all!
