Just noticed the discrepancy on the date. Are we ending this in six hours or 30? In other words, Sunday at 23:59, or the 25th at 23:59?

EDIT: Grrr. Couldn’t get the link to work. I must have tried that 10 times before I could make it link back to the post on the prior page.

Oh sorry. Let’s end tonight (Monday 3/25) at 11:59 PM. See if you can find signs of spring out there today!

Tag one:
Sports places. Football and baseball fields, stadiums (big and little), hockey rinks, soccer fields, roller rinks or bowling, more. Shoot it. Post it.

@Stu : I had no intention of robbing the winning tag owner :S

I am just happy to finally get into the game, thats all!

Ah crap, pras, I’m sorry. That’s the second time I’ve done that. I blame it on the cold/plague thing that’s fogging my head.

I can rerun it for the second tag, or you can take Stu’s. Your call.

Okay, so I already created tag one, pinky. Should I go ahead and create a tag 2 as well ? (Oh, the stress, the head fog, etc! ;-)

Oh for the love! Let me try again.

Joanne! You’re up.

And will somebody deliver me some DayQuil? Or a place to nap?

Haha! I feel for you–I just emerged from more than a month of head/throat/chest gunk and fog myself. To continue the spring theme, with the hope that it will someday arrive, how about birds? Have we done birds before?

Let’s set Sunday, April 7 at 11:59 pm for the end of this round. And if on that day, in this city, there is snow on the ground, I will henceforth refer to our ‘burgh as Fairbanks East.

(I hope you feel better soon, Pinky!)

Me too – eagle!

Tag 2 – Birds
Yes, this is nearly impossible to see, but circled in white, the little white spec in the middle is one of the eagles that everyone is talking about. campV and I rode by there today, hung out for awhile with the riders from the fish fry ride, and didn’t see anything. Then we split up.

After we split up from the fish fry ride, campV and I stopped about 100 yards away and decided to take a last look. That’s when we saw the white head bobbing up and down in the nest. I had binoculars, so my cell phone image kinda sucks, but, yeah, it’s the real thing. On 3 previous visits, we saw nothing.

Circled in pink on the right is a disgusting plastic bag that’s been stuck in the trees for weeks – yeesh!

We saw that eagle post fish-fry also. I really didn’t think we would since someone that was standing there said one flew off about 10 minutes before, but we were happily surprised.

This was what I was going to post if I hadn’t had such good luck getting the eagle:

I seem to have finally shaken the plague, and the hubby and I made it out for a terrific ride this afternoon.

Sports:

I was hoping to be more inspired by birds, but here are some (of course) geese. I may or may not pick up a different one.

This pic showcases my new (not so sure if I like it) saddle, whose initials are A.R.S., and whose new name is “arse.”

Tag #1, Paul Manion field, Olympia Park, Mount Washington, off Virginia Ave. Two pics, one from above, on Olympia Rd in Chatham Village, the second from the entrance to the playing field. This is where your neighborhood team, your workplace team, your local saloon’s team, might go to play baseball on a summer evening. And yes, I was out for a ride on the wheel, so that’s what’s in both pics.

Let’s try something a bit different. Pictures are passive things; it’s sometimes hard to tell what’s going on in a scene simply because you can’t hear or smell what the photographer sees when the image was captured.

So, let’s try to photograph something LOUD. Think of things that either actually are loud, like a train at a crossing, or which evoke the idea of noise, like a crowd at a stadium — not that you’d haul your bike up to the nosebleed seats of Heinz Field, but you get the idea. Without putting yourself in danger, photograph your bike next to something really loud!

And now for something completely different. Or not, but Stu’s intro reminded me of that line.

My tag is going to be fish! I made this a lot harder by waiting until after all of the fish fries ended, but there are plenty of places to tag fish in Pittsburgh.

Tags close Sunday 4/21 at 11:59 PM to give everyone two weekends.

Side note – as the weather gets nicer, do we want to start bumping up the frequency of the wheel spin? Thoughts?

Circumstance had kept me from playing the last few rounds, but I am back on the bike now, and hope to remember to post.

I think we might be at the point weatherwise where we can go back to weekly wheel spins. After this round, of course!

Hmmm, now to figure out if I can find LOUD FISH somewhere in the region!

Tag #1 – LOUD: A 5900-series Gillig bus

Explanation: While nearly every 40-foot bus Port Authority owns is manufactured by Gillig, this last purchase, labeled 59xx, has a feature I find irritating. While idling — and every bus ever made does this, even trolleys dating back to the 1930s — periodically an air tank releases a blast of air. On the 5900s, this sound is a particularly sharp little report that can be heard about four blocks away. If you happen to be waiting to board one of these buses and this tank does its little release while you are standing next to it, it will scare the heck out of you.

These sirens on Chateau Street were pretty loud. So was the thunder that was crashing all around me. I couldn’t capture the lightening, so you’ll have to settle for the lights on the squad car.

I was about a block away. When I checked the police blotter the next day, this showed up as a traffic violation, plus posession, plus intent to deliver.

I think I am glad they got stopped a block south of me!
