Stu,

May I be smartass and entertain people a little bit?

While sound in the movie is correct and cricket is related to grasshoppers, they are separate species so picture is not correct. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket_%28insect%29

Thank you.

I rode off to get this one tag I had in mind.
It was a ways away and I got tired.
So anyway.
This is the tag you’ll have to find.

Clues.
1) Note the shadows; according to the EXIF this was snapped at 17:10:59. Had I only waited that one second longer…
2) Those spires are indeed in the Romanesque style.

Ahlir, I had no idea you rode such a tiny bike!

Sigh, I know. It’s had me thinking about building a Monster Bike…
And, yes, I already know about this one:

What I’d really like is one that I could use to crush me some cars.

This was a tough one for which to pick a shot but it’s just one of the neat things in that corner of Pittsburgh.

For a centrally located softball
No one here can remember old Lafayette Hall
The Grand Old Party may have changed
And today seems deranged
But Pittsburgh was where it started at all.

Lafayette Hall historic plaque outside Mandarin Gourmet restaurant, Fourth and Wood streets, downtown. I thought that brick looked dang familiar.

This is the way to where the symphony used to play, though it might look more like something from the wrath of Kahn. You shouldn’t have to hunt too hard for it.

edmonds59

Ok, let me float a clarification to a previous clue.
You shouldn’t have to Hunt too hard for it.
See if that helps.
Also, it might be windy out today, see if the wind helps you.

I had a hunch that’s where it was, but on unicycle Thursday and motorcycle Friday, I didn’t have much opportunity to head over that way.

OK, Jon, this might be a race. I was headed out to OTB for the Reverse Keg Ride anyway, planning to leave shortly.

Colorful clue, Bill. Thanks!

Very good Stu. Just by way of explanation of the clues, through this underpass is docked the Counterpoint II, a floating concert hall and sometime home of the American Wind Symphony. And it was designed by world renowned architect Louis Kahn. It has been around the world, and it sits forlornly among rusting gravel barges.

NEW TAG!

While everyone knows of the “Great Fire” that almost destroyed the City of Chicago in the late 1800’s, did you know that Pittsburgh had its own version of it ahead of the Windy City? This plaque that commemorates the catastrophe is located in a very busy street in Town, however unless you actually look around for it, you won’t notice it :(

You might find some poles here, and it’s in the North, but I don’t think Santa lives here.

Located close to Pittsburgh’s historic Casino District.

Some additional clues did come to mind.
For example “almost Heaven”, ” a Pen on the way to a” …

and a close-up

Next up:

Sometimes a river runs through it
and sometimes
it runs over it

To say more
would weigh
a ton and still fail
to make my poem soar

This tag doesn’t need a clue because it’s Internationally known.

And for the whiner(s) who didn’t like the clues on my last tag… as promised, here are the coordinates where you can go:

42.4347° N, 83.9850° W

Thanks to this tag, I remembered to bring with me the library book I have to return. But now I don’t feel any desire to run out to Oakland to return it.

Does the Downtown library have an external drop? I’d suggest hitting it on your way home, but they may be closed by then, and I vaguely remember having been foiled by it before. (If nothing else, the North Side branch definitely has an external return box…)

I don’t think they do, but between that post and this, I walked over and handed them the book.
