Ted King-Smith

Known to some as King Ted (not Ted King), Ted (he/him) was born in Pittsburgh, but first fell head-over-heels for cycling as a messenger on the streets of Philadelphia.  Since moving back home in 2003, Ted has held most bike jobs imaginable from mechanic, to pedicab driver, to tour guide.  Also a PA certified Social Studies teacher, Ted’s educational experiences have ranged from classrooms throughout the region to summer programs with Venture Outdoors and Positive Spin to an AmeriCorps service year in McKeesport and Braddock to bike repair classes at Free Ride and the Pitt Bike Cave.  Ted is a League Certified Instructor (LCI) and is looking forward to teaching Confident City Cycling and other classes.  When not bike touring, mountain biking, or attending amateur bicycle races, Ted can be found wishing he was traveling, at independent cinemas, petting dogs, eating spicy food, and/or falling asleep with a book on his lap.
He can be reached at ted@bikepgh.org
