Bikes Reported Stolen 2015
“they are just so stupid”
I blame the addiction, whatever it is… and sadly, that seems to be the reason for most theft.
Black Marin with lime and white lettering stolen from the parking garage between 3rd and 4th Avenue on Wednesday morning. I’m not 100% sure, but I feel like it was the Bolinas Ridge model from 2010 or 2011.
24-speed, 26-inch tires. Assuming the thieves didn’t add or remove anything, it has 2 water bottle holders and a pump mount attached to the frame. Front tire is as shown in photo. Back tire was recently replaced and doesn’t match. Needs tuned and breaks are squeaky.
leadfoot I may have found your bike please call me 412 716 4956 craig ,,after looking at the photos and your info it looks to be the right bike I cant belive another bike
Leadfoot Johns bike will be picked up,,,,another stolen bike with I.D of the seller to Bicycle Heaven with video photos,,,the black Marin bike,,,another thanks to Bike Pittsburgh and friends
My bike was stolen between 8pm on Sunday May 31 and 7 am June 1 2015 from Alleghenty Center Apts 7 Allegheny Center 15212. It is a Ginat brand green mountain bike about 10 years aold. It belonged to my son who gave it to me when he out grew it. My bad, I had acheap lock on it. Live and learn. I am new to biking and would love to have it back.
How do I upload a picture. Thanks, Julie
Julie, is there anyway you could post your email so I can message you? I live in 7 Allegheny any if you see my post from a few weeks ago I got my bike stolen too. We need to talk to management because this is a recurring problem and they wouldn’t hardly help reviewing surveillance for my bike until it was too late.
^Just so you know, there is a “Private Message” feature (on the left in red just under your name and avitar) to contact each other rather than listing your personal info for everone to see. It’s a bit klunky, it doesn’t notify you of waiting messages, etc., but it works.
And I hope you both get your bikes back
Some photo-upload sites have a button like “Share” with an option like “Embed on web page” or “HTML”. Usually that will display some code you can copy and paste right into a message on this site. That’s a fairly painless option.
Another hit,,,an unbelievable week at Bicycle Heaven ,,I found the owner of a bike posted on craigslist and another site. A novara Float bicycle, owner Tyler Butler was called.A few bikes came in from a man and woman all of them I found to be stolen. The police have some work to do but we made it easy with I.D. AND VIDIO
Wow hats off to bicycle heaven again. Any descriptions on the other bikes? You guys are unbelievable, keep it up! We all appreciate it.
Do you think they will search the male/female thieves house to see if they have a stockpile?! Keep your eye out for the blue diamondback insight!! Thanks again BH!!
Hi all – my Scott Sportster P4 Ladies hybrid bike was stolen from Stanton Heights today, Saturday June 6th, between 2:30 and 5:30PM.
It’s light blue, 2008 model (I think). I don’t have a clear photo of it, so I found a stock photo online (attached). My bike is identical to this, except I have added long L-shaped bar ends (wrapped in black wrap), and a white Selle Italia Diva Gel Flow Women’s saddle. It has a green and silver “Healthy Habits” store sticker on the top of the down tube.
If you have any leads, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Hey everyone, i wanted to check in with a bit of good news. The Lemond Fillmore i reported stolen last July has been recovered thanks to the keen eyes of Bobby @ BikePGH. What a great guy! Thanks again to anyone who shared the photo and, i believe, Paul B who got things going with updating the wiki. We really have a fantastic community here, much appreciated!
Someone had been riding it with the original ulock still fastened to the top tube (WTF?) :)
My guess would be they defeated whatever it was locked to but couldn’t get the U-lock off the bike frame. Or it was accidentally not correctly locked (I know I’ve done it, and I’m super paranoid).
Not much info, but in case someone lives down this way & is missing a bike.

My Bike was stolen from the North Side last night (6/17/15 – 6/18/15). It’s a Specialized Vita, XS/S frame, turquoise, with lights on the tire valves. At the time it was stolen, it also had black and white flower saddlebags. Please keep an eye out!!
Where in the North Side? And what means of locking did you use? Chain, U-lock, etc.
Also, make sure you file a police report.
for the record, i think someone lifted the bike over the street sign or whatever it was locked to OR the lock completely missed the fixture, like Erin said. Probably the latter. I wasnt around when it was locked up so i cant say for sure. it was just some jerk who saw an opportunity to do something jerk-like without a lot of effort. i dont think there are too many pro mastertheives picking or grinding ulocks in this city just yet, which is a good thing.
That a old trick they do in many states I was told,,,they even cut the sign pool ,,when you lock your bike they just lift up the sign pool and boom they got your bike,I will keep a eye out for your bikes,,its been slow last few weeks
Room mate’s bike was stolen the evening of June 24, 2015 from our back porch on Yew Street at Millvale Avenue in Bloomfield.
The bicycle is a green metallic, vintage, Italian road bike. We cannot remember the make or model – but think it may have been a Basso or Marinoni.
Other distinguishing features:
– New cork handlebar tape
– Double-sided quill pedals
– Black & yellow u-lock attached to the frame
– About 54 cm frame
While this is NOT the stolen bicycle, it looks similar:
Please keep an eye out. If you see anything, please email email@example.com.
My Rock Mountain Soul 29er mountain bike was stolen on Sunday night/ Monday (the 21st/22nd) morning in Shadyside near the corner of Shady and Walnut. It was locked with a U-Lock to a bike rack. The jerk unbolted the entire bike rack in order to get my bike off. I discovered it was missing on Monday morning when I went down to ride it to work. I rode it on Sunday night so it was for sure stolen sometime between 9pm-ish Sunday and 8 am Monday.
Bike is Black and red, 3 years old, gears and chain a bit rusty, black water bottle holder facing up under the seat, missing a knob on the fork, some scratches on the frame, missing front and back reflectors, medium sized women’s frame, disc hydraulics. PLEASE let me know if you see it! I am only here for a summer internship (from Colorado) and was finally starting to like it here :( please help me find it so I can stop being so homesick. Thank you! this is not my actual bike but just a picture of the make/model
15 inch barracuda A2M, teal/white/silver stolen from swissvale on 6/25.

Place to check out for possible stolen bikes is Wolf Pack electronics on penn ave (6022 penn ave).
^^do you think they know they’re buying illegals or do you think they’re in on it? Seems kinda sketchy that an electronics resale business is buying bikes…?
That green bike does seem to match up with @cailygrube’s description.
I’d suggest taking an officer friendly with you to the shop to check on it because they may want to investigate this as a bigger issue than just this one bike. This is what happened in Brentwood Boro last year and it turned into an episode of Starsky and Hutch (including car chase and shootout).
Seems like a pretty legit resale business if they buy bikes with U-locks still on them. smh
I’ve been wondering about that place. They are always on CL. https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/bik/5098377219.html
Here’s a bunch of bad photos of bikes there to look through: https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/bik/5086707455.html.
It’s hard for me to look at a collection of used bikes for sale like that without thinking, some or most of those are stolen, after hearing what Craig has had to go through with thieves.
That is my room mate’s bike! She is there right now with two police officers.
Thank you all for your help!
Holy moly. I hope the guy has video and ID like Bicycle Heaven does. Not taking any bets though….
Also, I hope somebody goes by that shop and gets good photos of the remaining bikes, and posts them here. Do it the way Marco did — go to the shop, “Wow, you’ve got a lot of great bikes here. My friend would be interested in these. Do you mind if I take a photo for him?”
That’s assuming the cops haven’t already cracked down on the place and taken possession of the rest of the bikes, which they really should.
