After tying up in the Third/Fourth Ave garage bike station, I noticed the remnants of a bicycle in the dumpster on the 4Av side. It’s disassembled but something close to complete. I extracted an intact 26″ front wheel & tire, but lots more there. I have no idea what the story on it is, and didn’t try to ID make/model. Just wanted to point out that it’s there, and won’t be there long.

Too late, gone now. I was able to lug that wheel home, but the rest of it went off to some landfill.

are you sure the stuff was not stolen and dumped there for pick up later?

I don’t. But I go past that dumpster all the time and wonder, if I had gone back downtown that night and gotten that bike, and figured out it was stolen, could I have reunited it with its owner? I didn’t go back, and 12 hours later, the dumpster was empty.
