Mr. Costa misses the point that we, the cycling community, are not really looking for assurances that this is not the City’s opinion. The law is pretty clear on that. No, what I think we are looking for is that the people who are actually charged with doing the work are educated in the laws, policies and procedures and that they don’t go spouting off discriminatory statements.
And this is discrimination. Substitute “pedestrian” for “bicyclist” and people would be upset and a little bit baffled. Substitute “wheelchair” for “bicycle” and people would be completely outraged.
