Ringtown is over on the Philly side of the middle, but I figured maybe some people here knew of the cyclist or the ride. They kept a blog, http://thepinkpedal.wordpress.com/

Dammit. =(

The photo shows a bicycle lane. Is this just a stock photo or was he really killed while riding in a bicycle lane?

I’m guessing a stock photo, the article said it happened on tribal lands, and they probably didn’t send a journalist out to what I’m (possibly incorrectly) assuming is the middle of nowhere to take a photo of the exact spot.

From another article ( http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=389530&src=3 )

The young men were riding on the white line on the side of the road, said Bereskie.

Very sad.

More details.

Video

He was on the white line with a flat. No charges yet filed.

Wow, that is tragic. I hope they finish the ride, but it’s obviously understandable if they don’t.

And, unfortunately, more “blame the victim” type crap in the comments to the news stories… Absolutely disgusting.

THIS JUST SUCKS!

***Waconda, 58, who faces a maximum of six months in jail for the misdemeanor charge***

I was surprised by the comments – the ones I saw were almost all very thouthful comments, even the one I saw where the writer mentioned scufflaw cyclists. I can’t seem to get all the articles, but still, it seems a change from what I’m used to.

Gilbert Waconda pleading not guilty back in January. Letting the Bureau of Indian Affairs handle the investigation is kind of like letting PAT police deal with bus drivers.
