This year I biked to work for the first time on Bike to Work Day and it was a great experience. I am curious how many others did it and how it went for you.
I live in Dorseyville and work in Glenfield (near Sewickley). I actually cheated a little and drove to Etna where the bike trail starts. From there it was 18 miles to the office. My route was down the Three Rivers Heritage trail and the North Shore trail to its end, Then onto California Ave. for a short time, across the McKees Rocks bridge, Island Avenue, across Neville Island and across part of the I79 bridge to Glenfield and up a big hill to the office. Trip took me 2 hours. It rained from McKees Rocks to the office. I wans’t smart enough to bring rain gear or have dry clothes stashed at work. My clothes were dry in time for the evening ride back home. The ride home was great. Good weather. One other guy from our office rode his bike in from Cranberry. Saw about 12 other bikers on my route in in the morning.
My goal now is to bike to work one day a week through the summer and fall.
