Lions and Tag-O-Rs-ama and Bars--Wining and Whining and Drooling

SO what is a TAG location anyway? 1. The location of the rider='pic taker'. 2. The location of the identifiable view; i.e., if I can take a pic of the view from another location... 3. The location of the bike. And how close must one match that location....I recall a recent tag where the getter didn't care that they didn't get the exact light sand along the river--they all look alike--not exactly, though...: See on http://localhost/mb/topic/tag-o-rama-4/page/13/ paulheckbert Dec 26 2015 at 4:55pm # RustyRed Dec 26 2015 at 7:01pm # https://www.flickr.com/photos/cspiegler/23363969824/in/dateposted-public/ paulheckbert Dec 26 2015 at 7:36pm # That’s not it. Follow the clue. RustyRed Dec 27 2015 at 11:15am # https://www.flickr.com/photos/cspiegler/23637466669/in/dateposted-public/ If I take pic of the moon or sun or stars, can someone get the tag from anywhere the item is visble--and does the moon have to be in the proper phase.... (clouds are too variable--but, as @jonawebb intimated: "The rules don’t forbid...[it], right? They are silent on the issue. So there’s no contradiction." Or was that wine induced drool? I could bring the infinite into this discussion, but that would be better serve in a NEW TOPIC: DROOLING on 'Lions and Tag-O-Rs-ama and Bars--Wining and Whining and Drooling'".

Thank-you for doing this on a different thread.

#5 – All images of tags that are posted, whether picking up or setting a new tag, MUST include the bike you rode to the tag. If your bike isn’t in the posted image, you don’t have a tag. Doesn't this mean the whole bike must be INCLUDED in the image?

#1 – Find the tag and get a picture of your bike in the same location (as best as possible). BEST? The best is surely the exact location--it doesn't get any better--and the poster put it there, didn't he/she?

#2 – Take the tag to a new location, shoot a photo with your bike in the picture, and post it here. Keep the tag within Pittsburgh city limits and the surrounding neighborhoods. Give a few hints (or a short poem if you’re so inclined) so the next person can figure out where the tag is located. Try to place the tags in interesting locations, somewhere historic, etc. Remember, the point of the game is not to make the clues difficult to figure out. It is about riding, not Googling. What about singing a song if so inclined? City Limit? Rectangle? I see the map shows some tags outside the Rectangle? So, is GOOGLING not permitted...or just frowned upon... Are these rules or suggstions?

#2b – This rule is intended to keep the game moving. If the overdue tag is posted before somebody grabs the reverted tag, then the new tag will stand. However, giving the overdue tag-holder a load of crap is highly encouraged. #7 – No whining. Giving crap...? Isn't that whining? Keep the game moving? Why not make a rule, similar to the 36 hour rule, if no one picks up a tag within the time limit, say seven days, the first Bruced... #2a – After you pick up a Tag, a new tag must be placed within 36 hours. If the new tag is not set within the time limit, the first Bruced posted gets the tag. If no Bruce was claimed, tag will revert to the previous tag, and somebody else will get their chance.

#6 The bicycle in the picture must get to the tag location under the player’s own pedal-power. Is a single rotation the pedal enough? Or a half? Or does this mean that one is not allowed to roll the bike into position...or hang it, or set in some position unless it has been ridden to the location?

#3 – Tag must be findable – don’t make your tag so obscure that no one will find it. Make sure to let folks know what riding conditions are involved to get to your tag. Huh? Surely the tagger found the tag they placed. So it is necessarily findable...unless the ground has shifted, or the location has been destroyed, etc.

#4 – File photos are NOT permitted. You may not use a photo taken before the current tag was set to prove you found that tag, nor use a photo taken before you photographed the current tag to set a new tag. This makes sense to me. Though I know it has been broken. And so what--if the poster give the time and date it was taken, it adds a temporal dimension...

"The rules are easy (although wordy, it is not hard to play)" Hmmm... I don't need no rules...suggestions...Tags are like pornography, I know it when I see it. It's a free for all!!! Let's make it much easier and less wordy: #1 – Find the tag and get a picture of your bike in the same location. The first person to post a found tag gets to place the next tag. Oh yea, and: #2 – No whining. Have fun. Ride. Eat leaves.
