negley avenue (partial) repaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well it is a start, and it is VERY EXCITING for me, as it is the only way i can bike in and out of my neighborhood sometimes:

from dowd's office:

The Department of Public Works has announced that they will be paving N. Negley Ave. between Stanton Ave. and East Liberty Blvd. on weekdays from Monday June 27 - Friday July 8. During this time, you may want to look for an alternate route while looking forward to some smooth pothole free streets.

So they aren't going to start where they stopped at Hampton? Typical.

according to that pdf i posted in another thread, it's only stanton->elb. they're also supposedly doing baum->5th.

If/When they get around to Perrysville, there are only a few places that are really bad: the hill between Federal and Federal, and the level area just south of Marshall. I would rather see them trying to hit the worst places instead of redoing the entire length.

that baum>5th is horrible. i'm happy to hear they are finally doing something about it, even partially.

Slightly OT, but the stretch of Reynolds, E of Dallas, is now nice-n-smoooooth!

Looks like they are also repaving the Butler end of Station Ave.

this isnt happening now... til "utility issues" are cleared up..

from dowd's office:

The Paving Division will perform paving construction on Baytree Street form Perrysville Ave to Evergreen Road

between 6-18-11 and 7-7-11. There will be no paving construction on weekends or Holidays.

The following streets were listed to be paved, but are now on hold until utility issues can be worked out.

N NEGLEY AVEEAST LIBERTY BLVDSTANTON AVE

N NEGLEY AVEBAUM BLVD5TH AVE

in other words they are trying to force the utility companies to do their work NOW instead of pulling their usual crap and cutting up fresh pavement and half-ass patching it later.

i hope.

arrrrrgh. This means Stanton Ave is going to be horrible for a while since its already been dug out.

i think that it just means negley from elb to stanton. not stanton.

@cburch I really can't believe what they get away with as far as patching goes.

Has the paving on Negley started? I would like to avoid that way home if it has.

i dunno about negley but fwiw it looked like they were setting up to finish paving beechwood today. let's keep our fingers crossed they get the bike lanes right. erok told me it's supposed to be separate car + bike lanes (hope i didn't ruin the surprise)

negley is the same shithole it always is. milling the road might actually make it smoother.

milling worked for beechwood, modulo the manholes sticking way up above the surface. anyways, beechwood is now paved, no paint yet. fwiw, i'd probably avoid riding on it today like i just did - it's still kind of oily, my tires got a good coating of asphalt and were picking up stray stones.
