Do bicycle commuters get a mulligan on this day? Cause, I need to get somewhere by car today of all days. haha...

they shouldn't have car free days on thursdays. thursdays are freeride night. that bike a) is completely wrong and nearly useless on the road and b) would have to magically get me from the strip to north park in 45 minutes to get any riding in.

Can't quite do it in 45, but not much more than that: Ride to 7Ave at Smithfield, board an O12, exit at Showcase Park & Ride (39-minute ride), continue on Blazier, L on McCandless, R Grubbs, L Ingomar, L into park. You're about a mile on roads north. I'm not sure how much of Smallman or Penn you have to ride, or how far into North Park your destination is, but the big distance might be doable by bus in a reasonable amount of time. And there are lots of outbound O12 trips.

Getting back, the 12 starts where the O12 ended, but they only run once an hour (on the :44) and take 1h10m just to get Downtown. The 87 Friendship runs every half hour until 10:05p. So, you'd need to bag it not much after 8 to get back over to Showcase for the 8:44 12 to the 10:05 87.

Yeah, getting back doesn't look too pleasant, you might need a ride for that.

Stew, thats a great suggestion. I've been wanting to try the trails in North Park but havent because I dont want to ride my MTB from the south hills - this would be doable.

The OMG-I-missed-the-damn-12-now-whaddoIdo solution is to get a ride to the traffic light by Denny's on McKnight (the plaza with Panera, Goodwill, Jo-Ann Fabric). It takes the 12 a stupid long time to get from Showcase to there, over a half hour. But if you can get a ride that far, get a ride to *just past* the post office at Siebert, where the fare drops from $3.25 to $2.25.

This is why I often bike into the city. Between the cost and the time involved, it's cheaper and easier to bike it. But you said your bike doesn't do roads, so nvm.

Sure, it's a car-free day. Same as most other days.

If you need some special day for it to be a car-free day, you probably aren't doing it right.
