2009 Bike Polo - Come out and play
Spring is here and we're playing polo yet again. We have loaner mallets available but you are encouraged to make your own if you decide to play frequently. Beginner friendly, we mix up the teams to make sure people play with others at their skill level. We welcome spectators as well, but we will likely heckle you until you play...
Assuming the weather is good we play on Thursday evenings from about 5:30 or 6pm until sundown. Saturday and Sunday afternoon games have also been happening, but we've yet to set a definite start time. Under the Bloomfield Bridge, on the busted up roller hockey court behind the ball field.
Erok, why don't you play? Are you just a sucker with no self esteem?
ha ha. everyone got better and i stayed the same.
Weekends: When the weather is good, we've been playing on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons at about 3pm at the Bloomfield court.
We made significant improvements yesterday, fixing the broken barn-doors, closing some fence gaps and making the bleacher area that much nicer.
Come out and play, totally beginner friendly, gentleman's game. You will fall down and laugh, so bring a beater bike, but we promise that we play nice and try not to hurt anyone.
I keep meaning to come out to this, but I need to build something up out of the basement parts stash. The closet things have to beater bikes right now are a '50's huffy cruiser, or the Xtracycle.
I wonder if the Xtracycle would be an unfair advantage? All that junk in the back to block shots? Or would it suck because it has the turning radius of a Lincoln Town Car?
It would suck due to turning radius, for sure. It's a pretty nimble game.
This Just in from Lindsay: Pittsburgh Bike Polo will be featured on the front page of the local section in the Tribune Review tomorrow (the 3rd of July)
ok i def curious. what kinda bike does most people use?
