A mountain biker was taken to a hospital Wednesday after falling into a 125-foot ravine in Allegheny County's North Park.
The man lost control of his bike and fell over a hill side about 5:50 p.m., Peebles fire Chief Matt Williams said.
Rescuers took the man to UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland with a leg injury, Williams said.

...get on the sidewalk!
Hopefully he's just embarrassed and not too hurt.

Must have been a slow news day. Also I still don't know where a 125foot ravine is at north park.

...wonder why they took him to Oakland. UPMC Passavant is just 2-ish miles outside of the park. And I can't think of a 125 ravine, maybe falling off a trail along ridge.

125' would most likely equate to about 25' with the media today. The 125' is more exciting to report.

Maybe they meant the ravine was 125' long. Or wide.

No 125 ft ravine involved after all. If I recall correctly, mtn biker slipped off a bridge. Muscle damage, broken femur, but OK. There was a FB thread following this incident, which is the source of my info.

I wonder if it is the bridge at the end of pfundstein? I know lots of people who have slid into the creek because it is an awkward angle and the bridge was usually slick with wet. It looks like the trail fairies benched the run in and run out so that the angle isn't so weird. The bridge also looks like it may have an antislip surface now. I like it. The first time I rode it, my back wheel almost went into the ditch, and I have walked it ever since. Until now.
