3-2-1 Ride Pittsburgh needs volunteers! Sunday, October 12

Do you like having fun, riding bikes in Pittsburgh, and/or supporting great causes like cancer research? Are you free Sunday, October 12? If so, here's the perfect opportunity for you... THE BASICS: On Sunday, October 12, the Woiner Foundation is holding its second annual 3-2-1 Ride Pittsburgh event. You can find out more information at 321ride.org. This is a bike event with three separate rides: a family trail ride, a 25-mile city tour, and a metric century on the GAP. The Woiner Foundation was founded by two absolutely lovely members of Pittsburgh's bike community whose family has been directly affected by melanoma and pancreatic cancer. They started 3-2-1 Ride last year, and in the very first year, besides putting on an awesome bike event with over 400 riders, they were also able to raise $32,700 for cancer research. Help us make it even better this year! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: For the 25-mile city tour, we need marshals to help keep riders safe and on the route! Marshals do things like stand at intersections and make sure riders don't turn the wrong direction, ride with the group to make sure no riders feel left behind, and/or ride along to help with mechanical support. If you've never marshaled a bike event before, don't worry: if you can ride a bike safely in traffic and in a group, we can teach you the rest, and we can pair you with an experienced marshal. (We can also use some volunteers to help hang signs on Saturday, October 4 and probably some bike parking volunteers on the day of the event, so if you would rather help one of those ways, let me know.) WHEN & WHERE: Marshals would arrive for a marshal meeting with me at 8:30am at the Heinz Field Quay on Sunday, October 12. The city tour begins at 9:30am and should end around noon-1pm. PERKS: Volunteers will get t-shirts, entries in drawings to win cool prizes, free massages at the finish line festival, AND a fun day on a bike with a bunch of other awesome people who like riding bikes. INTERESTED?: Please email me ASAP if interested at flockofcycles@gmail.com, including your name, email address, phone number, T-shirt size, and anything I might need to know about your volunteer preferences/availability (if you have to be somewhere at a certain time that afternoon, . -Sarah
