Americans' Changing Relationship With Cars

On the Diane Rehm Show on NPR today discussing trends of car use, with some talk of urban design and alternative forms of transportation that some of you may find interesting. It's a long program that ended a few minutes ago and I only caught a short portion of it. They usually post the archive so if it is not yet available it should be soon. www.drshow.org

Thanks for the heads up; interesting episode! To the caller at 42:12, where do you drive that car? Certainly only on those roads that you built yourself. With what do you fuel your car? Hopefully with corn that you grew yourself without any subsidies. Right? This mentality is infuriating! (Also, ever heard of headphones? "I couldn't listen to the Diane Rehm Show on the bus!")

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101359812#. American's would never be as progressive as the Germans. I am not anti-car, but only use one to leave the city for other towns or my family's house in the burbs. Within a dense city cars tend to be inefficient for local use. 20 years for Hamburg through would be 100 for Murica. The resistance against driverless cars will last for 100 years here.
