There were some brief Facebook posts about a cyclist fatality on Route51 near Maytide. Anybody hear anything?

There isn't anything else out on the internet about this.

The Facebook group, news and events in Western PA, has a post from an eyewitness and then another post talking about a cop telling the driver that the 20 year old cyclist didn't survive.

Still nothing? I’m curious whether this was a suicide or failed brakes. Do police even bother checking the bikes after an incident like this?
About 10 years ago two girls got killed in an off-road bike crash, I believe due to faulty brakes, but at least in that case there was an analysis done in short order.
For the cycling community, it would also be helpful to know how to handle a brake failure situation. I know in my own case, since I live on a hill, I can bail into my own driveway or yard if the brakes fail in the first 100 feet, but that doesn’t help everyone else.

Stu -- where did you come up with the "suicide or failed brakes"? Nothing is known about this crash unless you are privy to information no one else has.
it's not fair to speculate, especially with low percentage causes, if you don't have the information.
The high percentage cause would be being hit by a car. That's what happens the vast majority of the time in bicycle related deaths. And the tweet specifically mentions a vehicle vs. bicycle collision.

One of those posts said he came down Overbrook - a steep hill - and ran the red at 51 into heavy traffic. That’s not speculation, rather an honest question. If he wasn’t trying to off himself, did his brakes fail? Did anyone check that? Is that info not being released or does it not exist? I think that’s an honest question, too.
Sure, if the family wants info not to be released, I can accept that. But say so. AFAIK, there’s been nothing.
