Looks a little crazy from my car. I ride my bicycle on the sidewalk across that bridge and just wanted to know if you can even access it? I think they have to provide a right of way for pedestrians, but sure looks tore up.
Thanks for any information on it.

Most people I know use the sidewalk. It's not ideal, and over time we would like to improve upon it (making it much wider so walkers, wheelchair users, and bicyclists can share it), but it's the best way to connect the two sides of the river. We are also hoping for the Brilliant Bridge to get turned into a bike/ped trail in the future.
Note: I have ridden my bike on the deck of the Highland Park bridge numerous times and it's death defying. Not worth it at all. 62nd Street Bridge also sucks, but it sucks less than HP IMO.

Okay, I don't know if many people read here anymore, but I can tell you this about the HPB. If you are coming from Aspinwall you will need to cross over to the left makeshift sidewalk that is coned off in front of the Mattress place. From there you want to go towards Sharpsburg until you get to the ramp that would be to access from Sharpsburg and you can access the sidewalk from there. It is a little crazy around there, but not too bad.
I will say this. Riding. bike around the east end is pretty crazy. I have never seen so many people running around 50 or even more mph on city streets. I am very careful and realize people seem just so angry. I have discussed this with fellow cyclists and they agree. Just be careful.
