ASSULTED IN SOUTHSIDE -WTF!
On my ride home tonight I had a glass container filled with eggs thrown at me while riding up josephene! It hit me in right in the ass, splattering all over my bag and bike. Fortunately I wasn't injured but it's a hell of a surprise to have glass and egg shatter all over your back side. I tried to chase the car up the hill but they caught the green light at Pius st. and there was no hope of catching them.
I was able to flag down a cop that was coming down the hill and report the incident. I wasn't able to get a plate number but definitely saw that it was a WHITE PONTIAC GRAN PRIX, 98-01 year.
I've lived in the south side for a long time and I've never had anything like this happen. I figured with the recent attacks on cyclists that I should post this here so people know to watch out. WTF.

this is one of the many reasons i hated riding home up 18th st every night. the other being the long lines of parked cars on the curves that had all been sideswiped as a group that i would see almost weekly, i was always afraid i was going to be between the latest drunk to do that and the cars.

Yeah, i can vouch for SS USUALLY being safe, but as with all things, it only takes one group or person to do something stupid.The brick thing scared me, as i ride in SS alot..At 6am or late at night/bar closing time..I've never had a problem (knock on wood.) But that does sound like some young kids..Probably heading back up the hill..You get a lot of jock/asshole/tough drunk guys shit talking you when you ride by, but that's a given..
Off topic, but i think the best line i've heard yelled besides the cliche "Fag!" was a group of black kids saw me and 2 friends ride by going about 30mph and the one yelled about me "He ain't even on a fixie!!" Haha, i got a good laugh out of that.

Alright, I have to ask this. (no im not going to start a flame, I hope) Im new to this forum and while I have been riding for awhile I have always been a solo kind of guy. (thats changing) I didnt have contact with the biking community or anything like that. so I am asking out of a true curiosity.
does it seem like these assaults are on the increase or is just that we had some high priority things happen (Don Parker being killed, the city getting the bronze thing for being bike friendly) that is bringing what has always been happening to the forefront?
