B.E.E.R.

In order to celebrate the re-opening of Elwood's Pub, we would like to present another Bicycling Escapade Enjoying Refreshments ride Saturday 11/13/10 10:00AM untill ? Just like the Dirtier Dozen, except only about about one half (Don't know what the Dirtier Dozen is? Shame on you!). So, the ride will be somewhere up to 25-30 miles, and will contain three to six beverage stops. In true DD fashion, there will be singletrack, train bridges, slaggy R/R tracks, hills, hills, and of course more than a few stops along the way to sample some of the finer offerings in life(as well as some food). While most of the miles will be on the road, a road bike probably will not do. However, a cross bike should be fine, or a mountain bike with semi-slick tires, or maybe even an old beach cruiser that has been hot rodded.

The ride will cover some distance and have big hills(this is Pittsburgh), but the overall pace will not be any faster than the slowest rider. Here is a link to what the route may be like; http://tinyurl.com/28czkvn and possible elevation; http://tinyurl.com/26ln6rx

Some food and beverages (along with more fun) will be had afterwards at our house.

Along with an appropriate form of transportation, you will need: •Some Money •An ID •Some Common Sense •A Smile(Because it will get used - a lot) •A Lock(Optional as we can share these) •A Headlight and a Blinky •Your Toothbrush(If you plan on over indulging, plan on staying as we always try to accommodate our guests.)

We will be meeting at our house on Sat Nov 13th at 10:00. Plenty of parking. Rain/snow or shine, so be prepared.

Don't know us(Lee & Elizabeth), or would like more info? E-mail mtnbikerleeATyahoo.com (Fix the AT first).

NOTE; We might be doing a shorter, less hilly version as daylight and weather permits.

We'll be riding all day pretty much. One of the stops(Rivertown Inn Verona) is a scheduled lunch stop and the service at Mulligans was so terrible (the last time it seemed like an hour for the 25 of us to all get a beverage). So, you should be able to pick us up somewhere easily. I can provide you with my cell #.

lucia be sure you and your bike are ready for some cross country riding. "dirtier dozen style" most definitely does not mean "mostly on the road and bike paths".

Nothin hard core. Slaggy RR track ballast, a couple hundred yards of singletrack maybe. Some unimproved rail trails maybe. The rout is not set in stone, but a cross bike at least would be good.

I flaked at this.... after I took my exam in the morning I didn't get home until 1:30pm, and by then I was super hungry for food, sun, and beer; I ended up doing all that and hanging out with friends instead. It was a beautiful day to ride for sure!

@Cburch: I have a mountain bike with slick tires, and 'bikey' could have handled that..... not too long ago I did almost 2miles of RR big-ass rock-ballasts, and gotta say -it was fun!! But thanks for the concern :)
