I am intreigued. What is it?
Banana flip
I'm going out on a limb here, but I imagine at least one other person has heard of the snack food called a banana flip? Anywhere around here where one could purchase them?
Mmmm, I haven't seen one of those in a while, but then again I've been staying away from that kind of stuff. But I'll keep my eyes peeled.
....check a vending maching from the 80's.
Round banana flavored cake with icing on one side, folded over so it resembles a taco.
Nickles Bakery makes them, still, but I cannot find any store that has them.
Just checked our vending machine, we have twinkies but no banana flips. I will check the local store at lunch.

If you look very closely, there is a picture of a banana flip at the top center of the picture on this page.
@edmonds: Nice one.
@ orionz06 Nickles Bakery ...
I bet a real bakery doesn't quite get the plasticized goo vibe of the original. Heck, a bakery might even put some foodstuffs in there.
@edmonds just don't slip up!
I remember those. The filling was yellow, and tasted banana-ish, but kinda funny at the same time. Like some stew of "flavorings" and colorant.
Yecch.
Now, if anyone can find me those little round pies with chocolate pudding filling and sugar on top, in a wax paper sleeve, I am on it!
I am not touting the quality. I have a friends friend whose mother is assembling a bucket list and there are a few things I am able to help her cross off. I was hoping banana flips would be among the list.
I have had some really awesome ones made in a real bakery without preservatives and they were awesome. More awesomer than the Nickles ones, but she likes the Nickles.
as a child those were my favorites, moonpies were a distant second, hohos were third, and twinkies would only do in the event of a total snacking failure. Nichles Bakery has a distribution center in Verona. http://www.nicklesbakery.com/locations/index.php
Pink coconut chocolate snowballs rule.
The distribution center in Verona appears very abandoned.
Klavon's ice cream shoppe in the strip has lots of retro candy brands & might stock such an item...
+1 for Klavons. They also have orangeheads, which my husband has erroniously deemed to be the bestest candy ever (there's no chocolate involved, so I don't get it).
If they don't carry it, you might be able to get them to order you a case, and you could be the best Halloween stop ever. Or worst. Bucket lists are very important.
I prefer Cherryheads, but any of the ____heads candy is awesome.
Hostess pudding pies trump all.
Nickels lists Banana Flips on their web site, so they are still making them. Maybe there is someone you could contact who could tell you where they can be bought?
Perhaps someone who is connected with a local bakery could entice the bakery to produce a local delicious similarity. Perhaps in Market Square.
I don't work for Prantl's, though, so I really have voice in that matter. I think they only do banana things seasonally? Not sure.
I need specifically the Nickles ones. More than a few bakeries were willing to make me a batch.
I have never heard of these but I'm craving them! Too bad me on diet. Curse you, biggest loser contest.
Trust me - they aren't worth breaking a diet for. (And I say this as a fan )
If it was a pumpkin banana I might have to break the diet.
