Belt Drive
My new single speed has a belt drive I am considering replacing the tires on it for more flat resistant ones. I just realize I have no idea how to remove a wheel with a belt drive or remove a wheel without a quick release. Any advice before I start?
It should only take a Allen key to loosen the reader wheel. Slide the belt of the rear cog. Then it should slide out the back.
Your belt should never be so tight you couldn't slip it off.
@ sloaps you are right. Got my first flat, changing the tire wasn't that difficult except all the stems on my tubes are too short. I've got places to go and no tubes..... sigh
mrm,
Look for something like http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&langId=-1&catalogId=10551&productId=1108039&utm_source=Google_Product_Search&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=datafeed&cm_mmc=Google_Product_Search-_-PLA-_-Datafeed-_-Topeak%20Presta%20Valve%20Extender&CAWELAID=859296632&cagpspn=pla -- Performance and other bike store should have them.
your friends at trek will definitely have long stemmed prestas.
I have actually had a hard time finding short stemmed (35 mm) prestas locally. The long stems that are currently commonly available look ridonculous on my old school rectangular section rims.
