Hi, I'll be riding from Garfield (near Garfield Artworks) tomorrow night to my home in Wilkinsburg. Usually my route includes E Liberty Blvd but I'm looking to re-route for safety and avoid Penn Ave as well. Any suggestions?
One possibility (sorry, too lazy to map):
* Penn Avenue from Garfield to Penn Circle.
* Penn Circle to Highland Avenue
* Highland Avenue to a left on Alder
* Alder to right turn on Shady
* Shady to right turn on Fifth (take the sidewalk if you feel uncomfortable on Fifth)
* Fifth to right turn on Beechwood
* Immediate left-ish thing on Reynolds
* Reynolds to left turn on Homewood (at the roundabout at the park)
* Homewood to right turn on Meade
The above is probably what I would do personally, but this is a little less busy and avoids a hill. Depends on how brave and strong you are.
Also, the surface on Reynolds is worse than the surface on Thomas right now.
