Bicycle Diaries
So there are few things in this world i love as much as biking and one of them is the Talking Heads. I was very excited when i saw a copy of their lead singer's new book come through the library with the title "The Bicycle Diaries."
David Byrne writes of his thoughts and opinions of different cities as he sees them from atop his bicycle. It also has lots of pictures that he snapped off while on his adventures.
While im only about 60 pages in, there has already been a cool little chapter about Pittsburgh. Hes a big bike advocate and makes some interesting observations and comparisons of the cities he bikes through. I definitley recommend checking this book out. The Carnegie Library has a few copies in their system if anyone is interested. Happy reading!
I know he's heard about Pittsburgh, PA, but what did he have to say about it?
Bad joke. Nevermind, I'll just go read it.
haha, no thats a good one! but yeah, reading it would be best.
the drummer of the Talking heads is from here.
the little i read of it kinda weirded me out with the whole artists will revive cities thing
yeah, i dont really buy all of what he says, but he has some awesome to say about modern architecture. just you wait...
There's an interview with Byrne about the book from the PBS NewsHour (video & transcript):
