Bike lanes should never be in the door zone. there should be at least four feet of buffer between the bike lane and the parking lane on either side of the parking lane. Parking protected bike lanes and bike lanes on the left side of a one way street  still need this buffer zone because passengers can cause dooring as well. Examples of Door Zone Bike Lanes (DZBLs) include Liberty Ave., Forbes Ave. between Schenley Dr. and Schenley Dr. Ext., Beechwood Blvd., Cedar Ave., E. Ohio St., East Liberty Blvd., and Federal St.
