Bike merchandise on clearance at Aldi's

Couldn't find a related topic on the first two pages hence this. Aldi had a bike tool set reduced from 19.99 to 14.99. It includes a bottom bracket tool, chain whip tool, an assortment of wrenches, spoke key, multi-tool and more. It even has a patch kit. A lot of these were on my wish list and I can't even imagine how much I would have to pay for them individually. Aldi on McKnight still had 4 or 5 of them on Friday. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Aldi.

Oh well. My wife went over there just now, and the $15 tool was gone. There was a smaller multi-tool with a bunch of hex wrenches and a patch kit for $10, but that's all. Thanks for the heads-up. Maybe one of the other stores has one, but I'm not going on a scavenger hunt.

Of course you have to wonder if a decent quality set of these particular tools could ever be that cheap. But then I checked Ali Baba. Wow. The unit price on decent looking kits is unbelievably low. Of course you have to buy them by the crate...

DHGate is another good place to buy bike merchandise. It states something like 30 days shipping from China but usually it gets here in a couple of weeks.

"Of course you have to wonder if a decent quality set of these particular tools could ever be that cheap." They're probably pretty low quality, but I can't imagine them being so bad that $15 or even $20 is an unfair price. A lot of the tools at discount stores are similar: not terribly well made, but not bad given the price.

Sooo, sounds like I should find one of these, buy it, figure out how to use the various pieces properly, break something on it, then go to [insert favorite bike shop here] and drop a few dozen on a properly made tool that will last me more than one project.

BTW Aldi has bike work stands for $30 I think. I can't speak to the quality, but it's probably good enough to adjust your shifting, which is hard to do without this tool.
