registered with my new email, do I have to print the tickets to come?
Bike PIttsburgh Membership Meeting: Wednesday, February 9
Hey everyone, our membership meeting is next Wednesday. If you are a member of Bike Pittsburgh, you should have received an email invitation yesterday. If you didn't get one and think you should, please let me know: lolly@bike-pgh.org
If you are planning to come and would like to volunteer, please let me know.
If you would like to come to the meeting but are not yet a member -- please join!
There's going to be all sorts of rad stuff LIKE:
Kick off our letter-writing campaign to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl
The chance to meet the Bike Pittsburgh Board of Directors and staff and people from the message board
Awards for Bicycle Friendly Businesses, Volunteer of the Year, Advocate of the Year, and Organization of the Year
Free Bike Parking
Tasty beverages and yummy snacks
After party to follow across the street at the Round Corner Cantina
no you don't need tickets. that was just an option with the program. you can print them if you want though.
okay, just checking!
What's the deal with getting there late? I'm sort of supposed to be busy until 6:30 in Oakland, and would likely get there 7ish...cool? Uncool?
how many people are wearing ballgowns, poofy dresses, or tuxedos to this?
besides me, i mean.
Are people supposed to? I must have missed that part.
You can get there at 7, but we're trying to start then. We are encouraging people to start arriving at 6:30 so we can get almost everyone in the door, checked in and seated with a tasty beverage by 7.
bump. Tomorrow!
I have a poofy dress ready. You apparently dont HAVE to wear dressy-up clothes, but since it is sort of a member social...
Darn- been home sick for 2 days, and won't make it tonight. Everyone have fun- I was looking forward to it!
wish I could make it, I have a show I'm helping with and we're in tech week.
I'm going to have to bail on this too. Been planing on attending since it was announced. But yesterday I completely zoned and setup an appointment for tonight.
Tried to reschedule, but no dice.
Darn. Would have really liked to attend. Have Council Meeting tonight. (Arrgghh.)
I'll be there still. Just got off work, so instead of a poofy dress, it's dirty jeans and a work shirt.
@lolly After party to follow across the street at the Round Corner Cantina
I know I can't make it to the meeting.
I might show at the party afterwards. Is that OK?
still working. no meeting for me. lame.
Thanks everyone for nerding out with us last nite!
A very enjoyable evening. No disrespect to anyone else, but Lolly is the awesome. Nice job.
Thanks to everyone - except Lou, for encouraging me to have one more beer at the cantina... j/k, that was cool too.
Thanks Bill! I had a really good time despite not eating, drinking too much coffee, shaking, and then rambling about how Bike Pittsburgh discounts can help you avoid styles like my own DIY haircuts.
nice boots caitlin...seriously.
nice boots caitlin...seriously.
the double post made me look like i was twice as impressed as i was... but then i realized maybe i am that impressed.
haha.
Getting behind the driver's seat early this morning, heading out to a jobsite, I passed a massive traffic jam on 28. I thought of Lolly and her inspiring words: "ask every business if they give a BikePGH discount because even if they don't our membership will look large and we'll then get what we want."
I just thought of something else that might help when asking for a discount. If you don't think you personally need to save the money, you could take the money from the discount and put it in the tip jar if there is one, donate it to BikePGH, or say to the business owner "Great, thanks for supporting bikes (or bike-friendly, or some clever phrase) in Pittsburgh. I don't need the discount, but I appreciate it and that's why I support your business."
i told y'all i was fancyin' up for this.
its like bike pittsburgh members were all my valentines!
caitlin, your dress was super with a B. those boots were mesmerizing.
feel compelled to mention how thoroughly entertaining both Lolly and Lou are as public speakers. something special going on there.
i love when lolly said "infrastructure porn"
Oh, btw, there was a blue and gray and dark gray scarf found at the end when we were cleaning up. it's a really really nice scarf and it's at the BikePGH office. if you want to claim it, call or email me! eric@bike-pgh.org
Caitlin, have I seen these boots before or are they new? Can we see photodocumentation for those not in attendance?
Getting on my boss's case about setting up a discount after this meeting.
I agree, I'm very curious about the boots.

LMAO. I passed this along to my buddy Chris Ziegler who is the President of the Butler Freeport Trail Council and told her this sounds like something she would come up with. I also told her you probably wouldn’t mind if she stole it to use. Good lines deserve broad recognition and use. Brilliant marketing idea, Lolly. Lots of +1s to you for it.

Got to ask. What is THAT? I’m just an innocent boy from little ole small town Butler, not the wicked big city like yinz guys are, and I don’t know about these things.
@cdavey,
Take everything! I'm all for sharing ideas.
Check out Streetfilms to see what is meant by infrastructure porn.
This is the sort of thing you watch with people who want to geek out about transportation, but not (necessarily) the sort of thing you'd use around Valentine's Day.
hm, if i have a photo of them it is from another event. they were created for a specific outfit but now they are out and about more often!

"As Emanuel the gardener slowly caressed the piers on the hot metal bridge, the bridge started to quiver. A low moan arose from it's vibrating girders..."

"As Emmanuel the gardener slowly caressed..."
If additional proof were somehow needed that the people on this board have entirely far too much mental energy that they can't burn off at work or otherwise, this is it!!
I'm still laughing!!
Someone needs to use the Puppet Warp filter in Photoshop and give Fabio back his neck.

Nice photos!
Does anyone know who fabricated the trophies? That was a great idea: the shrunk-down bike racks.
haha, we first did that years ago on our 5th birthday party at the attack theater. these were fabricated by dero, one of the main bike rack makers
