rad...i have a dream of starting a rogue bikeshop doing repairs only in the middle of the night using only this stand...

speaking of, do you think several people could join me in filling out comment cards that say, i love how there is so much bike parking here and that you now even have a repair station!! but it is very hard to get around customers at the cafe tables to park a bike, and i know i personally have had to ask some to stand up while i bring my bike to the rack. maybe you could place more of the cafe tables down on the part of the lot that is blocked off?

I too was a bit perturbed that the table was right next to it. i was just trying to use the pump and almost elbowed some poor lady sitting at the table.

This is great! We need one downtown too!

They should seriously move the bike parking to the parking lot but I guess they want that space for summer shopping?

it would be uber rad to have one downtown and also one at the head of the jailtrail where the parking lot is. people would be STOKED

Grr yeah; I too hate that they put those stupid cafe tables right up against the bike parking

then will you all please fill out some comment cards about it? maybe if we all fill some out (politely) we can get that to change. so far i bet im the only one!

we should probably contact our elected officials about this while we're at it.

whole foods doesn't really regulate where those tables end up after they're put outside for spring dining. other customers have moved them to suit their needs, so you probably can too, as long as there's no one sitting in it.

haha. well i'm glad i didn't give the lady sitting there a black eye with my elbow. she was relentless in holding her ground

thats the thing.. there are usually people sitting in them. if whole foods really doesnt care (i was under the impression they care about all that stuff) then why not just have whoever puts the tables out never put them near the bikes?

I stopped by and tried this the other day, and the tables were certainly in the way. But it was Saturday afternoon, probably one of their busiest times.

I found the pump to be (a) probably the thing I'm most likely to use and (b) pretty hard to use. Between the wall, the structure of the station itself and (probably) people sitting at those tables, I had to pump one-handed to avoid bashing my head against the wall. I would find that same station much more useful if the pump were not tucked away in the corner.

But it's great to have as a resource!

i can no longer speak, even in obvious jest, about the wishes and policies of a company that happens to employ me.

however, we all can agree that there is way too much going on outside there on the sidewalk. there is too much going on in general. i wish we people were less in need of constant, diverse stimuli. do people really need bike racks, another type of bike rack, seats, tables, bike tools, flowers and topsoil, charcoal, staircases, wheelchair ramps, trees, sewer grates, independent thought, local produce, concrete, abandoned shopping carts, and whatever you have with you on your person at the time.

Just speaking for myself, there is

YES: bike racks, flowers and topsoil, bike tools, trees, local produce, wheelchair ramps, independent thought,

NO another type of bike rack, seats, tables, charcoal, staircases, concrete, abandoned shopping carts

And maybe: sewer grates and whatever you have with you on your person at the time.

Maybe I was doing it wrong, but I could not get the presta valve hole around my presta valve. It was stuck in the "closed" position I guess and I could not get it open.

Maybe we can ditch that ankle level bike rack? How the heck are bikes supposed to stand up with those?

all I can say is "it's getting REAL in the Whole Foods parking lot". Just be glad if you don't have to park the car.

Just used the repair station outside of WF. I wouldn't have been able to get my groceries in my front basket w/o it. That thing is great. Saw a guy pumping up his tires right after I finished.

@scott--that station ate your food. that's why you were able to get the rest of your groceries in your tiny basket.
