Dang I forgot to take pictures at Pedal Pgh. I was too busy bailing out my rowboat.
BikeFest and Pedal PGH image dump
Post your photos please! You don't know how much this thread helps us out thru the year.
put em up!
someone took this picture last night:
here's one of my favorite shots that i've seen from pedalpgh so far.
AWESOME.
I took two last night that aren't the best photos, but I like that it's basically just pitch blackness with reflective gear here and there
I think I know whose blonde twins those are! Cute picture for sure. Start them young!
Already on the Bike to the Buccos page, but here they are again....
Not very bike oriented, but still a Bike Fest event.
not very bike oriented!? we were late because we were too busy talking about bike infrastructure!
@dmtroyer -- I meant the PHOTOS weren;t very bike oriented. But I agree, the ride down was very informative. And fun!
Trib has a good slideshow of Pedal PGH
Good pictures, but what a discouraging article...
the biggest trick to reading any of the newspaper articles from local papers is to skip the comments.
cycling towards carrie furnace at twilight, and prepping margaritas with a cycle powered blender. thanks to albert and the zerofossil crew for making this happen, and blue dust for the buffet afterwards!
also, nabbing credit for the moonlight panorama above
Cool ride!
Apparently I didn't get the memo that it was a no-spandex affair.
I wore road shoes too, making it impossible to walk the mountains we had to climb; riding those sections was actually easier. Whoever bailed missed out; the route was plenty rideable, even in 23mm tires.
Thanks to the Zerofossil guys for putting this together.
thanks for those shots, jdziekan, beautiful!
pearmask, you're on flickr. don't forget to add your shots to the Bike Pittsburgh Group Pool: http://www.flickr.com/groups/bikepittsburgh/
@pearmask: ugh, you caught me yawing and/or picking my nose in one of your moonlight pictures. the others look great, though!
jdziekan, is the Carrie Furnance property open or is that gate usually closed?
looks like the top 4 are on birmingham br and the 5th is on east carson.
jdziekan, is the Carrie Furnance property open or is that gate usually closed?
It's closed. The guys at ZeroFossil did say that it is open for guided tours though, I'm not sure under who's authority.
^Rivers of Steel Heritage Foundation runs the tours. At least one of the tour guides is a former Carrie Furnace worker.
That's very cool. Making an enormous effort to withhold snarky comments about a "mass commute".
Try-A-Bike Jamboree 2012!
Butler Wobble Club!
Even the tiny Balance Bike got some love!
Scott tries the Tall Bike
Try-A-Bike:
reddan got a mind-blowing quantity of bikes packed into that subaru!
BikeFest made the Seen column again. http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/life/seen/bike-pittsburgh-benefit-bash-at-pittsburgh-opera-building-in-the-strip-district-648913/
Nice! Someday I'll get to hang out with the cool kids.
hmm, lets see, a couple shots post bike pgh party...
you know its been a long night when 3am O fries @ the Wall seems like a good idea.
Also a view of the 12 bridges ride @ the rest stop at the Southside pavilion (behind the brewhaus)
Last group of the ride, but we were all having fun.
I would like to meet you, pbeaver, as saying your handle out loud makes me giggle.
tee hee,
(not to ruin the mythos, but its just my first initial last name ((and yes, grade school was hell)) ).

Great pictures, rob! Always amusing.
Thanks guys!

lol, I feel like Ian is one of those people who always knows where the camera is
^ Politicians in training are like that!

So much for me staying anonymous. Yes I look exactly like my avatar

I missed the picture where I was made to wear party hats like I was starring as Madonna in a video from the 80s...
@ stef there is another missing picture.
Waiting for the best time to use that as a response..
^+1
@ Tabby, Marko82 and Scott - You guys! I can't help it if the paparazzi are just always after me!
How do I post pics?
I just posted many to http://www.flickr.com/groups/bikepittsburgh/
Keith 13 - go here to find out how to post images:

k, so i thought i may have had to pixelate faces to protect identities, then realized that i wasnt going to win a photo-journalism Pulitzer anytime soon.
Underware Ride 2012:
Anyone have pics of last night's Light Up Ride? Also, did anyone get the mileage for that ride?
i didnt get any pics of the ride, but i think a few ppl were snapping some.
as for the mileage, i clocked 14.85-ish and live just about a mile away. so best educated approximation would be close to 12.80/12.85 from dino to dino (coming up the cmu-switchback & past phipps)
This is my first attempt at posting photos so it may take a few tries, as HTML is totally foreign to me. When I get it right I can add a few more.
A ride touching every Pittsburgh neighborhood.
edit: sigh...the red x. i'm stuck
Fixed:
Wow. Thanks! Now how do I figure out what I did incorrectly and get the rest of them posted?
kelw - go to your flick account, select the image you want to post. Go to the tab named "Share" - choose the "Grab the HTML/BBCode." Select the code and paste it into your post.
Just use the share button on flickr:
^ yeah, what robdlc shows ^
i added some to the bike pgh pool. these are my favorites (sorry, dudes):
underwear ride
major taylors hopping the fence because of a closed sandcastle gate
hipster rando?
good thing those orange jersey barriers were there, othewize it woulda been long loopback to the bridge.
What about the Tag-o-Rama photo from the BikeFest party?
Other side of the railroad bridge that divides the lot from the slides at sandcastle. No more fence once the lot becomes the road. Just walk out to the tracks there. About double the walking on ballast but way better than taking the road or doubling all the way back to the waterfront.
Gee thanks Stef...
@stef: Even though it was too small, I really dug the fixie.
There shall definitely be one in my future, although I'm thinking road bike with a fixed/SS hub.
Stef, were you riding the single speed on the Light Up Ride? I was watching you climb the switchbacks through CMU. Here I am, wishing I had a third chainring, and you're just mashing merrily away up ahead.
Sorry about the fence.
Yes, stu. That is my commute home so I am used to climbing that hill.
Hollow Ride and Tree Ride photos are on the BikePGH BikeFest Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bikepgh/sets/72157631097528932/
after the three-state ride yesterday:
(wow, standing next to danny chew makes me look short. on a related note, he almost correctly guessed my height at 5'4". he also used his own special danny chew formulas to decide that i wore a size 7 shoe and was 26 years old. close enough, i guess. it was a fascinating conversation.)
Sarah,
Did you go up to 100?
agh. i got 99.2 and then my phone (with the endomondo app that tracks my mileage) died. i was a block from home, so i decided 99 was good enough.
I held a personal BikeFest ride to DC. Sorry I forgot to invite anyone else.
haters gonna hate...
kissing the trophy for the golden girls scavenger hunt
and karaoke of the theme song
hate Erok? nahh... taht's love
Pearmask,
I got a full run down of all the days events
via phone this AM from Mr. Chew.
Even though I'm an infamous papparazi when it comes to photos, I actually took rather few for Bikefest. Was more busy riding and enjoying.
Anyhow, here are a couple of pics:
From PAPA Ride w/THICK Bikes:
Mini-Touring & overnight camping at the GAP

Hah, steevo, I would have loved to hear his account. What an interesting dude.
How did I miss Danny Chew on the return???
I had 99 miles too Sarah.
You should have done just one more mile!!!!
was this danny chew's first BikeFest event, steevo?
i like this photo, nice one rob!
