The Pittsburgh region has enough bicycle "news" to support at least three "bike centric" magazines, an active bike advocacy group and dozens of cyclists vocal enough to post on this board daily or weekly on a wide variety of subject matter/personal experience/global cycling/etc. I think that's evidence of more than enough "material" for a weekly podcast.
Biking - cycling advocacy podcast
ok im just gonna throw this out there. For the past few years I hve been putting out a Music podcast with a company called Farpoint Media.
I have wanted to do something with a little more meat than just be a DJ playing songs. I have been toying with the idea of cycling podcast, but it seems like there wouldnt be enough to make a weekly podcast.
But the more I get to know all of you and the more I learn the more I think there would be enough to do a weekly show, talking about things like advocacy, upcoming events in the PGH area, Stories and reports about what has happened here and around the world.
What do you all think?
Anyone willing to be a part of the cast from time to time. it could all be recorded via skype
I am pretty sure I could get the people at farpoint to back this podcast as well. They are always looking for good content.
let me know what you think.

I agree, which is why I brought it up. so people, how about some titles and topics. anyone willing to talk about something they are passionate about cyclingwise.
just respond here.
I am not the person to talk to, but Commuting 101, how to dress for cold weather riding and basic rules of the road are all good "intro" topics. Then you can branch into some of the more difficult topics, like the need for motorist education as to the rights of cyclists, etc. Come spring (or even the major gift giving holidays) subjects like bike fit would be a great topic....not the technical details, but more the why of a good bike fit. Perhaps an interview with someone who was recently sized "correctly" and is so very much happier now. And, you could throw in the crazier stuff to keep the mood light. An interview with Nick on the tall bike - how you build one, what it is like to ride one, why you would want to ride one, what is next, etc. What about the pros and cons of electric assist bikes too?
I think that there are plenty of sources for "technical information" and how-tos, and maybe podcasts aren't the best technique for things that need pictures. But they're great for human interest stuff, where you really want to hear the voices of the people involved.
this might be something that would dovetail nicely with urban velo's "i love riding in the city" column. like a bike-centric "this american life"
