the actual ramones song, bonzo goes to bitburg, has a cool story behind it.
great spokecard
Ends at OTB Bicycle Bar in the South Side around 9pm. Punk rock and more karaoke from sometime after the ride until everyone goes home.
SPONSOR NEWS:
We've got some prizes on the way... Bern, Wald, Velocity rims and Ben's Bicycles are all throwing down for this, with some more potentially on the way.
As usual, shirts are in the works.
is there a route yet ?
We have solid ideas of the format and stops, but you're not going to find out where the checkpoints are until night of. The route will be up to each individual to figure out.
It'll be fun and won't be horrendously long. I'd expect the winners to do it in an hour to an hour and a half and everyone to be done within two hours. No way it will stretch longer than that.
Is it street or dirt? or both?
takin' to the streets! no dirt, unless you know some short cuts
$5 ??
Something like that. It'll be worth it, you'll get a t-shirt, a chance at prizes and a karaoke afterparty.
That logo is brilliant. Props to its creator (Jeff?)
yeah, that was jeffy ramone
Dear Erok and Brad,
Make this alleycat fun! After the AMAZING Misfits and Ozzy races of '06 and '07, The Clash race last year was ... way weak. Don't do that format again! Good luck, dudes! Keep the little that's left of the Pittsburgh "alleycat scene" alive!
Lurking from thousands of miles away,
Jason
stoked for this! suzys and sheenas represent, ladies class!!!
thanks for the advice jason. i'll take some hints from the jesus alleycat.
Shirts are done! Erok and I screen printed 80-some of them last night.
And prizes! Yeah.
- Blacked-out wheelset from Milwaukee Bikes / Ben's Cycles. Black nmsw Deep-Vs, black spokes, black MKE Bikes hub, and topped off with a set of Panracer RIBMO tires.
- Handpainted purple-ano / yellow Deep-V rim.
- Wald front wire basket
- And some other smaller things from MKE Bikes, Urban Velo etc...
Maybe more on the way?
Oh, nice prizes.
Cleveland riders are coming, look out.
awww. too bad the race isn't this weekend. the browns are playing the steelers.
rumor has it that a certain stars and stripes wearing moustached 4 time us tt champion may show up.
There's no stoppin' the cretins from toppin'
1-2-3-4 cretins wanna top some more
Wait 'til tomorrow, and you can start singin' "twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go"...
ha ha. i'm using that on a differnet messageboard later
So I dont own a road bike, can I still ride the route on my mtn bike? I guess what im asking is there a non competitive class?
not really a non-competitive class. just don't worry about competing and have fun. for some people who do these, checkpoints are just an excuse to stop and drink a beer. there is usually a share the wealth style for prizes anyway.
Good I can catch up while folks have a check point beer. As long as the weather holds out I will be attending.
thanks for coming out everybody! even tho i couldn't ride it, i had a blast.
good to meet some people IRL too!
I had a blast on this ride even tho I got completely lost. Was great to meet some new people. There was a few firsts for me last night too. First time singing scareoke and after that was all said and done I rode/walked/cussed my way up Mt wahington for the first time since living on it. Oh yea first time ive slept to 4 in the afternoon also.
Great to meet you Willie! Glad you enjoyed yourself, I'm always happy when "new" people come through an event and have a good time.
Good time man... Following people who you think know where they are going while being too lazy to actually READ the checkpoint list is sometimes not a good idea LOL...
Really cool shirts too!!!
post the pictures from your house!

Thank for the race dudes.
Good times.
hahaha, wasn't expecting that.... awesome
AWESOME PICS ! ! !
Somehow, it's hard to imagine the ("I don't think I'll get those brakes fixed") Ramones strapping on helmets as they biked off to make a connection with ...um... their local pharmaceutical sales agent.
