"Braddock in America" movie Thu 10/23

I got this from Thomas Merton Center: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23 SHOWING TIME - 7:30 PM "BRADDOCK IN AMERICA" Showing at The Pump House 880 East Waterfront Drive, Munhall, PA 15120 The film BRADDOCK, AMERICA, was made by the French filmmakers Jean Loic Portron and Gabriella Kessler. The film is a great exploration of what happened to Braddock after de-industrialization and explains much about the people who remained there. (100 minutes.)

It's a good movie, though it's odd that Mayor Fetterman isn't interviewed. (I gather that's because the film features members of the city council, and the mayor and council are enemies.) The Three Rivers Film Festival also features a few bike-related films: The Human Scale Andreas M. Dalsgaard | Denmark | 2012 | 83 min This compelling documentary makes an excellent case for designing cities around people instead of automobiles and traffic flow, which has dominated city planning since the 1960s. Human Capital Paolo Virzi | Italy | 2014 | 110 min The time-fractured thriller begins with a fatal collision between a cyclist and an SUV on an inclement December night in Northern Italy.

Let's not forget Tony Bubba's chronicles. My own favorite is his first, "J. Roy: New and Used Furniture" (1974), made when Braddock was just on the edge of the abyss.
