Yeah, what was he doing (besides hitting a cyclist)?

There are some serious crimes involving hitting a cyclist, like hitting a cyclist while drunk, hitting a cyclist while high, being disrespectful to a police officer after hitting a cyclist, or hitting a cyclist who's also a police officer. We'll have to wait to see. Hope the cyclist is OK.

Wow, an arrest so soon? I wonder if he had warrants/suspended licence. I hope the cyclist is OK.

The article and video merely said that "someone" was arrested, not that the driver was arrested. It'd be really 'funny' if the first immediate on-site arrest in memory was of the cyclist.

What a strange report. They show a man being placed into the police car, and also say that they are waiting to hear about the cyclist's condition. Just guessing they arrested the driver.

The PG says the driver was drunk. He blamed the sun, but the police only buy that when you're not drunk. The Squirrel Hill cyclist has back and knee injuries.

Looks like the driver in this instance was the one arrested on site – apparently for DUI related charges. Post-Gazette posted this update - but its unclear how seriously injured the cyclist is. I guess it's never too early to be on the lookout for drunks.

WTAE has updated their story to say the driver was glassy-eyed, 'had trouble' handing over his registration paperwork, and swayed visibly when standing.
