412 Flock! is trying to stay true to its word by bringing welcoming, family-friendly, all-inclusive, FREE events, so we're doing our first CINCO DE MAYO ride to welcome & celebrate the growing hispanic and latino bike community emerging in our city!
Not only will we ride, we will also ***issue the 1st printing of the Spanish-language bike guide "BICI 101", with some basic information for spanish & bilingual bike users -a first for our city!*** This is something that 412 Flock! has been working together with Free Ride, the OTB (Over The Bar) Bicycle Cafe, and support from BikePgh.
AND IF YOU CAN'T RIDE - just join us at the OTB later around 8pm and Celebrate with us!!!
--Where?--
We'll meet at Dippy the Dino (on Forbes Ave in Oakland, in front of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, across from the Cathedral of Learning).
--When?--
We'll meet on TUESDAY MAY 5th at 6pm and leave at 6:30pm.
--How long is the ride?--
About 9 miles.
--What's the route?--
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7757938
We'll start with a trip around Oakland, loop up through Bloomfield and down through the Strip, roll through Market Square, and finally ride down Carson Street to OTB.
--Where does the ride end?--
We will finish the ride at OTB in the Southside, with a PEDAL PALE ALE SPECIAL at $5 a pint, with some of the money going to the Flock to support our Non-Profit efforts and programs. In addition, there will be deals on tacos and drink specials - it is TACO TUESDAY after all!
--What should I bring?--
Helmets. Lights. A bike to put those lights on. And all your friends!
--What happens in the case of rain/snow/zombie apocalypse?--
On the afternoon of the ride, we'll decide whether conditions are safe enough to ride. Look for updates here, on Twitter, and on our website a couple of hours before the start of the ride if things are looking sketchy.
