CMU to remove abandoned bikes Sept 2
Got this email from campus and figured I'd share:
University Police and FMS will be removing abandoned bikes from Main Campus on Thursday, September 2, 2010. University Police identified and tagged the abandoned bikes this past weekend (August 21+22). Abandoned bikes are those that have not been used for the last three months and/or those that are in poor condition due to sitting. Bikes in poor condition are identified by such features that include, but are not limited to, two flat tires, missing major parts, frozen brakes, rusted chains, etc. that make the bike unusable.
Tagged bikes, bike parts, and locks will be removed on Thursday, September 2. Operating abandoned bikes will be stored on campus for 3 months, the others will be given to Free Ride, http://freeridepgh.org/donate/bikes-and-parts/.
Is that b-cycling? Get it? I'll be here all week!
I understand them wanting to clear out stuff that has just been sitting around. Props to them for not just throwing them into dumpsters.
