Could someone find me a new route due to the RR hating us in Panther Hollow?

I ride in the South Side and then up through Panther Hollow, or the Heritage Trail as it is called I think. I usually cross the tracks with ease and total safety due to super slow trains and tons of vision, but that isn't enough these days, so is there another route to get to the pond that is so nice now that people chipped in and helped make it great. Sadly, I don't think I will ever see it again due to the selfish prick running the RR, so I am looking for another route to ride thought the other side of Schenley because it is now split in half because of someone that hates people wants to show his power over all. Is there another way to that pond? Thanks.

The trail you mentioned lets out at Bartlett Playground, and going there from the south side I'd take Bates, blvd, and panther hollow... sidewalk. That generally, and a couple crossings specifically (Bates at the 376 offramp, Panther Hollow by the playground/interchange) pretty much suck (no curb cuts, please join the ranks of those complaining), but it'll get you there pretty directly. Or depending where you're going you may want to stay on Bates to Bouquet, left on Bouquet, right on roberto clemente to schenley drive.

Okay let me fix my mistake here. I meant to say I ride from the South Side over the Hot Metal Bridge and then get my way to Junction Hollow. From there I go over the RR tracks to Hollow Run Trail that goes by Panther Hollow Lake, which is so enjoyable. I don't know if there is any other way to that lake other than crossing the RR tracks which is prohibited by law and you WILL be prosecuted if you go near there. Thankfully I haven't seen anyone around there, not that I would ever cross such a dangerous place. Anyway, is there another way to that lake without dealing with constables/police/firing squad? I don't want to get beat down with clubs and put in a hospital if I am around such an area. Thanks for any help.

@gg: if you don't like @byogman's suggestion, perhaps this one might produce better results: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10879607 I started the route from the South Side, but I'm sure you can reroute as necessary.

Has anyone tried crossing the tracks up near the Panther Hollow neighborhood itself? I suspect there is a way to get through from the North of the lake. Or head up to the Schenley visitor center and down the trail there. What about crossing the track further to the south- probably not ridable, but maybe walkable.

Maybe there is a way to cross from just up the road a bit. Before you get to the rr tracks on boundary, like where they are building those two structure??? I am curious to know. I had a very nice mixed surface ride that went through schenley From there.

Stu videoed a trail that starts just past Big Jim's heading towards the soccer fields in a gravel parking lot, but it goes all the way up to the top area where those steps lead by the pond if you know what I mean by that. I rode part of it and walked part of it all the way to the top. Stu rode down it and it isn't really very good. Also it doesn't go to the pond at all. I guess I will have to change this amazing route. I love going down the tracks to Millvale then to the city (point state park) over to the South Side then over the Hot Metal and up through Junction Hollow, walk my bike over those dangerous tracks that super slow moving trains go though 8 times in a 24 hour period and then up through Schenely Park by that wonderful pond and end up by the public pool and then over to CMU, etc. It really is a nice ride. Sadly, the RR doesn't like us crossing their hardly used tracks, so I am looking for a different route. Considering they hired constables I doubt the head of that RR is a very kind fellow. Just put the damn fence up and be done with it. I hope we can find out who is the head of all that and get the media involved somehow to show how they split up the park and hate people. Whatever. I just want to ride by the pond. It is nice.
