I just read on a thread that we have not heard from cowchip recently because he was killed in a drowning accident? Did I read that right? I wish I had known at the time. That's one of the difficulties of only knowing people by their board monikers. I might have heard/seen the news at the time, and never made the connection.

Yes, he was killed a couple of years ago in the Mon. Very sad. There is now a bench/marker with his name (Ronald Vahosky) on the Kennywood section of the GAP, in honor of the trail work in which he often volunteered in.

Yes, died in April 2015 while kayaking in the Mon. The river water was cold and the currents were strong, and he was pulled under some moored barges, it seems.
