We're getting some sweet sponsors so come out and ride in what will probably be snow and ice!
If the course scouting team was any indication, the jeans class could outnumber the lycra class 2 to 1.
Wool knickers class?
I'm training for the XXXL Walmart sweatpants class. Only 2 X's to go!
Or maybe I'll enter my own skinsuit class...
i was hoping to win womens and jeans.
or is that category called 'mom pants'?
ps i am not a mom
Uh, is this thread about cyclo cross-dressing?
Wait, so what's the prize for the potluck comp?
The prize for the potluck is you get to see me in a skinsuit eat whatever is put in front of me.
Sounds like a great photo op for "I love eating in the city".
Urban Pizza. I'm honestly excited about this race even if I'm laughably out of race shape.
Is this the usual one hour plus a lap type of thing, or a set time? Pulled after getting lapped? Too many questions for this sort of thing I know.
ted and eric could answer that i think.
its either one hour, or a set number of laps. not pulled after lapped i don't think?
i honestly dont know much about cyclocross... but i feel like it could be my next fun thing to do on a bike hobby.
I will *hopefully* be back on a bike at this point.. if so, stoked to bike to it and watch my buddies.
I think we will probably run an hour or so plus a lap. No need to adjust course distance for bad weather or course conditions. I like things that run themselves.
Slagheaps? does that mean the flat section across nine mile from the new development...between the bmx jump hill and the radio tower hill?
Not going to race, but I'd like to come out and take some pictures.
The race course will be held in the slags by the radio tower and will feature much of Dave's "24minutes of slagheap" course. We can expect a combined race of about one hour plus a lap in duration. I think lapped riders will be allowed to race as long as they like.
Then again, the details are still being worked out so more details as they become apparent.
top. n'at.
top.
bunny hoping
that's what I'll be doing.

It looks like it's best accessed from Love Street. Is that right, or can you get there via Parkview Boulevard, too?
there will probably be a meet up at braddock and biddle to show people the way.
also it seems like goodman is your best bet?
most of the streets end in blockades of some sort or another. Best way in is down Goodman. At the end of Goodman there is a turnaround. Look left up the hill there is a trail...follow to end of fence, either go around or through.
you can also come in where commercial goes under the parkway. follow the road above nine mile until you see a short up to the left, near the radio towers, before the road starts going down towards nine mile. T's either go right or left they both get you to the general area...you'll be under the radio tower hill if you go left, and above it if you go right.
here are the best routes, in my opinion
dirt road, little bit of hard climbing but off the streets and kind of nice

also

or all roads until the end
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/goodman-radio-tower
when we get the blog post, etc up we will include directions and a meet up point to get you to the slags if you aren't sure where they are.
stay tuned for more details.

thanks for braving it out ben, you were looking real good out there!
I'm pretty sure there are some better photos out there. I'm working on the cellphone-photo aesthetic.
i am massively impressed at how mud-free my home was when this was over.
here are 2 race over photos that dave took to give some ideas about the mud we are talking about:
note eric's teeth in the first one
Great photos. Mudbeard the pirate!
ok here are some pictures... sorry if things are running a bit slow on the site... this is the way of things unfortunately.

Nice photos. Conditions looked perfect!
Conditions were perfect. And to think I was worried that it was going to be a nice day.
There definitely need to be a few more of those races this winter.

Dirt.
It's what's for dinner...
Shakespeare, Henry V;
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,..."
And ladies.
They think themselves accursed because they weren't there, and ladies?
Cross indeed...
Hey, it's an old joke, but Will liked puns too...
I certainly know that the first and second place women are counting the days until the next race. 'Twas a great event!
