I'm planning to use my SON generator hub to power one or more LED headlights,(depending on how craftsmanly I feel), as well as a helmet light.
Crush the Commonwealth - Lights
Hi,
I'm pretty well set with tail lights, but what have you veteran CTC riders (and commuters)have for a front light? I assume I should have a helmet and bar light. My Nite Rider Light system obviously won't last the two nights. Need something battery powered...Thoughts would be appreciated.

I have this:
http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-52/Romisen-RC-dsh-N3-CREE-Q5/Detail
It's claimed at 200 lumens and seems pretty bright, cheap, well-made, and is fed AAs.
I use this on my helmet(click pics for more info):
This on my bars as a high beam for fast descents in the dark. Does not include the bar mount, easy enough to make one yourownself:
I also use that Princeton Tec headlamp, but instead of building a bar mount I just stretch that band around my helmet. Damn bright light, pretty good battery life.
I have a few clip-ons that take AA and AAA batteries... Easy to change up on a long trip. Also, they are all LEDs so the battery life extends way beyond the 2 or 3 nights you will use them.
The only trouble I had with mine were in the abandoned turnpike tunnels, but not worth carrying my heavier lights for that.
Yeah, I just used two multi-LED headlights (a cateye opticube(?) and a planet bike blaze) and it was fine except for the turnpike area.
Hey - Landed on EOS for the helmet and the Corona for the bar. Thanks!

Beware ye the road between Yorke and Langcastuhr,
Especially at night,
For here there be monsters,
With concrete teeth and claws of asphalt,
What will rend and tear your hastily packed belongings,
Poorly secured for want of sleep.
