I've been using black 3m safety glasses for the most part. For a brief time I had some from Performance Bike when they first opened, but ended up loosing two pairs on the side of the road somewhere. Does anybody have any favorite pair of moderately priced cycling glasses?

I wear glasses just to see. I guess in retrospect I've seen a couple people wearing glasses that were primarily protective in nature, but I didn't even realize this was a thing. But I can see that a bit of kicked up road debris could be very bad news.
I rather doubt I'd ever buy something to wear over my glasses, so I guess I'm gambling straight ahead protection is good enough. Has been for a couple years of moderate riding anyway. If you know your prescription and don't go for thin/lightweight lenses and don't get silly on the extras, regular glasses are awfully cheap online. Not 3$, but not enough to sweat the purchase either.
Maybe I'll get some sunglasses so I can look extra cool while riding my clown bike.

First off, you do want glasses if you bike regularly.
Here are my 3 reasons:
1) cars and wind will throw up debris from the street. Something like sand getting in your eye is a pain.
2) In heavy weather (rain, snow, high winds) you won't have to squint for long periods, which is a pain.
3) mayflies.
I have a pair of cyclist glasses (the kind that come with interchangeable lenses, though I only use the clear ones, and a hard case). I forget how much I paid, but it felt like a lot.
One day, rummaging around the workbench I happened across a pair of safety glasses. The frame design was exactly the same as my fancy biker pair (down to the adjustable nose pads). I searched the web; you can get decent safety glasses for less than $10 (and down to $2.98 if you compromise on the design).
So go down to the bike shop and see what they have, then bike over to the Home Depot and see what they have. I bet you'll save $30+ for functionally the same glasses.

I have some sunglass-style safety glasses from Lowes that have super-thin flat temples that are really comfy and work really smoothly with helmet straps. 3M "Tek" or something like that. $9.

I too, have $3 clear safety glasses. After 8 months they're scratched a bit. I might want to invest in a new pair.
I use cheap drug store sunglasses for when the sun's out.
There's no way in hell I'm paying top dollar for something I abuse the hell out of.

I sure would like to find a cheap pair of the photochromic glasses. I use the 3M sunglasses and clear safety glasses, too, but it would be nice to only have to carry one pair. The cheapest photochromic glasses I can find are $25-30, which is too much for glasses I'm eventually going to break or lose.

I almost always wear eye protection. Too much dust / dirt / pollen / bugs to go without.
I like MSA Safety Works 10021259 Straight Temple Safety Glasses

I find they sit far enough away from my face that they don't fog up as quickly as a lot of glasses I have. If my eybrows touch the top bar of the glasses, I know they won't work for me and will fog fast. They are clear, so they don't cut the sun, but keep my eyes protected.
I got a pair of Pyramex Avante Safety Eyewear glasses, which work ok, but fog a bit. They are sunglasses / safety glasses and have a mirror tint. They look sporty enough and didn't break the bank.

I also sometimes buy cheap wayfayer knockoffs for sunglasses, they are 'good enough' and you can get clear lens versions or tinted. They are like 5 bucks or less on amazon, so I buy a bunch in the spring and destroy them / scratch them / loose them.
The nice thing is they don't fog that bad since they sit way in front of my face, the bad thing is that they scratch easily.

I've been wearing these for a few years:

They appear to be exactly the same as (slightly) more expensive glasses my prior employer bought. They have great coverage, and fit really well. They've saved my eyes from plenty of stones/branches/bugs. At under $2/pair, you don't have to worry about losing/breaking them.

Edmonds59: Do the Lowes safety sunglasses fit over regular glasses?
I've worn specs since 6th grade and use clip on sunglasses and a visor to cut glare from the top and sides, but some sort of good wrap around sunglasses that will fit over the specs would be an improvement. The cheap plastic drug store type break very easily and don't work well under the helmet. Also, glasses per se will not--I can testify--keep grit from blowing into your eye.

The ones I like wrap pretty closely and would not likely fit over glasses. Part of why I like them, but then I don't wear glasses. Full time. Yet.
