Cycling insurance

does anyone have experience with cycling insurance? I'm thinking, since we all are at risk on the roads from drivers, someone here has at least toyed with the idea. If something did happen to us on the road, what would be covered by cycling insurance? I assume bike parts, and hopefully medical. Any comments?

On a hit and run, you can also claim against your car insurance's uninsured motorist coverage. (or underinsured - I forget which.) I think these coverages are optional in PA.

When I was hit last October, I not only got their insurance to fix the bike I was on, I asked them for my costs to get my second bike roadworthy while the first was in for more serious repairs -- basically about $50 for brake cables, pads, and associated labor. All told, for both bikes, they paid out less than $500. In negotiating with their adjuster, I said they likely would pay out that much for one part on a car. He laughed and said, sure thing.
